Idle Users settings

"Idle users" refers to users who are connected to the server, but who have not used the server volume for a period of time.

Allow clients to sleep ___ hour(s) before treating them as idle

This setting prevents the server from disconnecting client computers that are in sleep mode.

Sleep is a state in which a client computer uses very little power. On computers with the Energy Saver software installed, users can set the computer to sleep after a period of inactivity. (Hibernating computers are treated as sleeping computers.)

Disconnect idle users after __ minutes

Disconnecting idle users after a specified time helps prevent use of client computers by unauthorized users. (You can't disconnect idle Windows computers.)

    Except:
The time you specify applies to all users except the users you select.
    Guests
Registered users: Any user who is not also an administrator.
    Administrators
Idle users who have open files: If you select this option, any user (guests, registered users, or administrators) who has open files will not be disconnected even if idle. If you don't select this box, users will lose unsaved changes to their work.

Disconnect Message

If you type a message, it will appear on any client computer that is disconnected. If you do not type a message, a default message appears stating the user has been disconnected. Not all client computers can display disconnect messages.
